Hey, I’m Adam!
I am a designer. I am self-taught, having attended college for Mathematics and Music and Technology. I learnt the basics of design primarily to market my music and, more recently, navigated into designing mobile applications and responsive websites. I began to take this even more seriously by completing the Google UX Design Certificate and Harvard’s CS50 Web Programming Certificate to learn the formalities of designing for the web!
What sparked my interest in digital media?
I've always been drawn to design, experimenting with software like Photoshop and Illustrator for various creative projects such as designing websites, creating art, and editing images. As I am passionate about writing, producing, singing, and performing music, I used to make the visuals and cover art for my music promotion. I started trying to advertise and market myself by making my own website: www.adamyasmeen.com.
The pivotal moment, however, came during an internship at an ad-tech company. I loved working with assets and using my own to create digital advertising campaigns - as I met the rest of the creative team and our other teams, I was fascinated by the software they were using and the work they were doing. This led me to dive into digital marketing and design, starting with personal projects and eventually redesigning the app for a credit union where I worked and designing and developing the website and brand for a travel agency where I interned.
How has my background influenced my approach?
My love for problem-solving and creativity found its expression in Mathematics and Music and Technology at the liberal arts college I attended. Although my passion for music persists in my free time, I couldn't quite find a career that aligned with the combination of my interests. Then, I discovered marketing and design! It was the perfect synthesis of my interests and the career I've been searching for, where problem-solving and creativity converge seamlessly.
What excites me the most about designing for mobile applications and responsive websites?
The excitement lies in creating something tangible that people will use. Designing for the digital realm allows me to craft experiences that users can interact with, making their lives more enjoyable and efficient.
How do I blend my passion for music with my work?
My music is all about evoking emotions, and that passion extends to my design philosophy. I want to create products that make users feel empowered, capable, and happy. It's about translating intense emotions into tangible and meaningful user experiences.
Further, completing projects from start to finish is a key aspect of my work ethic. This commitment was evident when I finished my first album in May 2022 after four years of dedicated effort. At that moment, the sense of pride and accomplishment reinforced my dedication to seeing projects through, a quality I bring to my design work.
My dream right now is to work in the tech space, in digital media, or in digital marketing.
I am excited about the prospect of contributing my unique blend of skills and passions to the world of marketing and design as I embark on this exciting journey!
